UNIVPM

General Description

UNIVPM (http://www.univpm.it/English/) has six Faculties from Sciences to Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture and Economics and offers 23 master programmes. It has 18000 students, 394 PhD and 435 Master students. UNIVPM will participate to the project with the Mechanical and Thermal Measurement (MTM) Group belonging to the DIISM (Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industriale e Scienze Matematiche), from the Faculty of Engineering. The Department leads the PhD course in “Engineering Science” and, specifically the curriculum in “Mechanical Engineering and Management”. The MTM group, composed by 4 professors and more than 20 PhD students and engineers, is active in the field of Mechanical and Thermal Measurement Techniques.

Supervisors and Expertise

Prof. Enrico Primo Tomasini, Full Professor in Mechanical and Thermal Measurements and Testing. Scientific responsible for about 20 EU projects, 3 Thematic Networks and 2 e-learning pilot projects. Supervisor of more than 40 defended PhD theses. He is the President of the Italian Association of Laser Velocimetry – AIVELA, that organises every two years the Conference on Vibration Measurements by Laser and Noncontact Techniques. ; Prof. Paolo Castellini (PhD), Associated Professor in Mechanical and Thermal Measurements working in the field of measurement techniques for dynamic analysis and vibro-acoustic. Supervisor of 7 defended PhD theses. ; Dr. Milena Martarelli (PhD), Researcher with 12 years of experience in the field of vibro-acoustics and modal analysis, MC Member of the COST Action TU1105, NVH analysis techniques for design and optimisation of hybrid and electric vehicles. Co-supervisor of 3 defended PhD theses.; Dr. Paolo Chiariotti (PhD), Researcher with 4 years of experience in vibro-acoustics and numerical methods.

Key Facilities and Infrastructure

UNIVPM has several facilities, including 2 semi-anechoic rooms for acoustic testing (small scale and large scale one). The DIISM laboratory equipment will be employed in the project, including the numerous available sensors (laser vibrometers, acoustic intensity probes, Near-Field-Acoustic-Holography arrays, Beamforming arrays, etc.), testing equipment as well as large computing facilities and software.

Previous Involvement in Research and Training Programmes

The MTM Group from UNIVPM has a large experience in European Union Projects (FP4, 5, 6 and 7) and Italian funded projects. The MMT group was, also, the Coordinator of the LAVINYA Network – Laser Vibrometry Network: sYstems and Applications. It participated to other 2 Thematic Network (PIVNET and PIVNET2). The group coordinated the CAMALEON project (non-ContAct MeAsurement techniques: e-LEarning for quality cOntrol maNagement), UNIVPM was also the Coordinator of the project CREDO “Cabin noise Reduction by Experimental and numerical Design Optimisation” Beside the ones previously described the MMT Group participated to 15 EU research projects.

Current Involvement in Research and Training Programmes

The MTM Group participate to the following running EU projects: INTUBE,TRANS-IND, AXIOMA, SPORTE2, CETIEB, DAPHNE.The MMT Group hosts and supervises many students within the international Erasmus programme and Campusworld.
